Prayers For The Week

Prayers For The Week

Are you too busy to pray? You have to do everything on your own. So, you have less time. But, you need prayers to keep you strong, guide you and help you cope with problems.

I’m a single mum and I know how important prayer is to me. And I also know that when I don’t pray, it affects me negatively.

So, I’m going to pray for us this morning for the week ahead.

Prayers of thanksgiving

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of life. Thank you for waking us up this morning. Thank you for our children and families. Thank you for the food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink. Thank you for the ability to see, hear, eat, walk, taste, smell and talk. We take these things for granted. But there are people in hospitals and hospices who would love to do these simple things.

Prayers for forgiveness

Jesus taught us to pray for forgiveness in Matt. 6:12. We ask that you forgive us our trespasses (sins) as we forgive those that trespass against us. Fill us with your love so we can love others regardless of how they treat us. Give us a forgiving spirit to forgive others so we don’t hold grudges.

Prayers for worrying

Life is tough sometimes. But in your word, it says, ‘Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks.’ Phil. 4:6 (NCV)

Today I bring all our worries to you:

  • Worries about not having enough money to pay the bills.
  • Worries about getting ill and not being able to look after our children.
  • Worries about debt.
  • Worries about not having a job.
  • Worries about loneliness.
  • Worries about our children being attacked at school or on the streets.

Lord, sometimes our minds are full of worries. But I know these worries won’t change anything. They only wear us down. So, I bring them all to you today. I surrender them to you. With you all things are possible. So I ask that you remove all traces of worry from our minds. Fill us with your peace instead. And help us to hold on to your promises.

Prayers for our children

Please keep our children safe. Protect them from getting stabbed or shot. Stop them from getting tempted to get involved in arguments and fights. Because it could cost them their lives. Give them wisdom to choose the right people to become their friends. Show them how to put their talents to good use. Reveal yourself to them. May they find you in their search for a true friend. You’ll be a friend who will love them, speak to them and guide them.

Prayers for protection

As this week unfolds, protect us from harm. May your holy angels lift us when and keep us from hurting ourselves. (Psalm 91: 12). “I run to you, Lord, for protection. Don’t disappoint me. You do what is right, so come to my rescue. Listen to my prayer and keep me safe. Be my mighty rock, the place where I can always run for protection. Save me by your command! You are my mighty rock and my fortress. Psalm 71: 1-3

Help us to trust you more so you can work properly in our lives. Help us to hear you when you speak to us so we can obey you. And help us to live within your will. In Jesus Name. Amen
