Last week we looked at five things you can do while waiting on God for your prince. After the article went live, one of my readers left a comment. Her words touched my heart.
She said, “I have been single now for about 14 years after my second divorce. I like my time alone, but now I’m feeling like my life doesn’t have any meaning. I believe in God and I’m a Christian, but sometimes I feel this way. I know that I need to study God’s word more and meditate daily, but I get some distractions in my day so I go about doing other things.
Single women, it’s wonderful being single. Don’t you agree? This is the perfect time to get close to God, depend on Him and get to know the real you, while waiting with excitement – in faith – to meet your prince.
And let me tell you, he’s in for a treat. “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord.” ~ Proverbs 18:22.
Raise your hands if loneliness makes you feel fed up. On top of that, no one understand how you feel. They think because you have a baby you shouldn’t feel lonely.
Your friends have deserted you because you’re a mum. Your lifestyle is different to theirs. You don’t have much in common with them anymore. When they visit, you’re knee-deep in nappies, feeding or calming your crying baby.
I know how difficult it is to be a single mother. It’s easy to feel discouraged and battered by the storms of life.
Do you wake up some mornings feeling low and want to crawl back into bed?
Other times you feel like a tiny ant lost in a huge world. Not only that, but loneliness hit you like a huge rock. It knocks the stuffing out of you. The tears bubble up in your eyes. The next thing you know, they’re rolling down your cheeks and there’s nothing you can do to stop them falling.
How many single men do you have in your church? In mine you can count the (limited) number of them on one hand. Many of those men are either married or too young.
Most churches, especially black ones, are packed with women. If you’re looking to meet a man there, the chances are slim.
In August 2011 I wrote an article ‘Waiting on God’ on my other blog Miraculous Ladies. It was a short account of my single journey while I waited on God for a Godly man.
My single status prayer and God
Well, would you like to know if I’m still waiting on God? The answer is yes! I’m still waiting. And it’s now a massive six years and seven months.
